Three speech therapy game formats

Each format turns one target into a round of play. Swap the sound, the picture set, or the age range to suit the child in front of you.

Sound Hunt

Sound Hunt

Hide picture cards around the room and ask the child to find each one that starts with the target sound, such as /s/ or /b/. Ages 3 to 6, with one sound per round and extra cards for harder levels.

Rhyme Relay

Rhyme Relay

Pass a card from player to player and say a word that rhymes with the picture shown. Targets include -at, -op, and -ig endings, for ages 4 to 7.

Peek-a-Word

Peek-a-Word

Hide a word card behind a flap and lift it slowly while the child guesses the word from its first sound. Works well for ages 2 to 5 with two or three target words per round.

Adapt each game to the room

Every game runs with everyday materials, printable cards, or no props at all. Change the rules to suit a solo child, siblings, or a small group.

Solo practice

Keep one target per round and offer two or three levels of difficulty. Repeat the same card set until the child can say the sound without prompts.

Sibling play

Give each child a different target from the same game board. Taking turns keeps everyone involved while each child practices a sound that fits them.

Group therapy rooms

Use printable cards and a shared timer so the group moves together. Step-by-step rules on each card help clinicians and parents run the game smoothly.
